Having grown up in New England, the apple orchard stood as a stalwart sign of strength throughout all seasons. Its gnarly branches and tree trunks throughout the upper pasture probably laughed as we learned to ski at their feet. But as the snow finally gave way to spring, those denizens of the field burst forth with great beauty, and reminded us of the promise of better things to come.
